Christmas treasures at the Royal Fortress of Chinon
To mark the festive season and bring to a close a year dedicated to treasures, the Royal Fortress of Chinon is offering a magical journey that revisits the symbols and wonders of our childhood treasures. Gold, a symbol of light, magic and wonder, inspires this dreamlike and enchanted experience.
In the royal quarters, discover the dragon that guards the treasures of our imagination: its golden fire breath pierces the walls to warm the room where an impressive pyramid of trunks and chests stands. Rising from the floor of the royal chamber, this pyramid reminds us that treasures are no longer buried. An oversized crown welcomes you on its giant cushion, symbolising the importance of this emblematic object from the Royal Treasury, present in all the sovereigns' reserves.
To complement and enrich the Christmas tour, the Clock Tower is hosting the photographic exhibition De l'or dans les mains (Gold in their hands), which showcases the talent of Touraine's craftsmen specialising in gilding and gold leaf.
The tour is open every day from 29 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, at no extra charge.
The Fortress is closed on 25 December 2024 and 1 January 2025.
