Christmas in the land of castles

Christmas in Fairyland

Christmas in Fairyland

This year, the Royal Fortress of Chinon is celebrating the world of fairies, inspired by medieval tales and a world of wonder. Designed as a self-guided tour, the visit gradually reveals these mysterious creatures, hidden within the scenery or moving through the heart of an enchanted forest.

The exhibition thus takes visitors through various scenes from fairy life, where they watch over a magical cradle or set their Christmas table, evoking the closeness of these beings to the human world.

The exhibition continues in the Clock Tower with a display of photographs dedicated to the Cottingley Fairies, offering a perspective that blurs the lines between history and illusion on these creatures and their powers. Perhaps, after all, the magic of Christmas has its origins in these fairies, the unassuming guardians of imaginary worlds.

Full programme to follow.

The Fortress is closed on 25 December 2024 and 1 January 2025.
