1/ Replica of the Joyeuse, the sword for the coronation of the kings of France

The original sword from which this replica has been made formed part of the Regalia used for the coronation of the kings of France from the 12th century. It is kept in the Louvre museum and is said to be Charlemagne’s legendary sword.

The goldsmith used the plate crown of Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, which can be seen in a stained-glass window in Poitiers Cathedral, as a model.
